What to do in Vico Equense
Vico Equense is located at the entrance of the Sorrento Coast and is connected by train to Sorrento, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples. By car, are easily reachable Monte Faito and the Amalfi Coast.
Vico Equense is composed of characteristic marine and mountain villages, including Marina di Aequa and Bikini for sea lovers, and Santa Maria del Castello for trekking enthusiasts.
The city is dotted with scenic spots, places of interest and monuments. The most famous are:
- the church of Santissima Annunziata: its baroque façade overlooking the sea is accompanied by the rarity of the interiors: they are in fact one of the few examples of Gothic architecture in the Sorrento Peninsula;
- Giusso Castle (1284-1289);
- the archaeological museum Antiquarium Silio Italico;
- the Campania mineralogical museum.
A short distance from the center of Vico Equense is the Scrajo spa.
Food & drink:
Vico Equense hosts many restaurants, bars and pizzerias. We recommend you try the ice cream of the Cremeria Gabriele and the restaurant La torre del Saracino, managed by the 2 Michelin star Chef Gennaro Esposito. Vico is also home of the University of pizza.
Folkloric events:
January 6: Procession of the Pacchianelle
Good Friday: Traditional procession in costume
Christmas period: living nativity scenes
Summer: food and wine festivals dedicated to typical local products (Provolone del Monaco D.O.P., riavulillo...)
