The Sorrento Coast is characterized by the tufaceous ridge decorated by an intricate embroidery of arches, caves and stairs created by humans. It overlooks the sea from Vico Equense to Punta Campanella and also includes Meta, Piano di Sorrento, Sant'Agnello, Sorrento and Massa Lubrense: villages and towns with a sea and mountain soul, whose ancient history is still visible today, in archaeological finds, in museums, city facilities, palaces and monuments that dot the peninsula. During your stay you can go and discover the coastal coves in which to swim, the mountain trekking routes that will take you to the smaller villages. Treat yourself to a boat ride, a dive, or a canoe ride. Relax on one of the terraces overlooking the sea and enjoy an aperitif before a dinner of local products. Pompei - Ercolano - Oplonti - Stabiae
From the eruption of 79 AD of Vesuvius they have remained protected from ash and soil for centuries. Slowly they came back to light, snapshots of life in Roman times. They tell us about everyday life made up of noble houses and palaces, lush gardens, spas, squares, markets, streets, temples, arenas. The excavations of Pompeii and Herculaneum, and those of more recent discovery by Oplontis, tell of love for life, art, and nature: a holiday town for the Roman nobility, they were also rich and vital commercial centers, thanks to fertile fields, communication routes, construction sites and craft workshops. Mosaics, paintings, architecture and everyday objects enclose the history that has shaped the Mediterranean culture and that, even today, never ceases to fascinate with its richness.
Naples
A city suspended between legends and history, beauty and decadence, past and future: Naples is certainly a city that once in life has be known and lived. Its historic center is a network of narrow streets hiding art treasures, traditions and folklore. Whether you visit it in summer or winter, retrace the footsteps of great artists, philosophers and poets; whether you go in search of its historical roots, or want to do a shopping tour and taste the local delicacies, Naples has always something of wonderful to offer. Castles, fortresses, monasteries, basilicas, museums of classical and modern art, churches, street life, royal palaces, music, theater, underground city, aquarium, city of science... Naples has a thousand souls, all to be explored.
Beyond Naples: visit the Campi Flegrei, Baia and the solfatara. History and nature meet along the coast to show unexpected treasures. And for diving enthusiasts, we recommend a visit to the Underwater Archaeological Park of Baia and the Marine Protected Area of the Underwater Park of Gaiola.
Our favorite places in the city: the waterfront - Monumental Complex of Santa Chiara - the metro station Line 1 - Toledo (it is the most beautiful in the world!)
What to taste in Naples: the portfolio pizza - the sfogliatella - the pastiera (at Easter) - the cuoppo (street food)
Capri
The blue island. This is the second name of Capri, which stretches languid and seductive over the sea. And if the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking of it is the glamour of a relaxing holiday on the beach or on a boat, shopping, and nightlife, don't forget that Capri is ideal for long walks, new perspectives on the gulf and tour to discover the history and nature of the island.
Do not miss: the church of San Michele in Anacapri - the Migliera - Scala Fenicia
To try: tour around the island by scooter - sunset boat tour
Ischia
Rich in thermal parks, springs with mythical origins, beaches, bays, gardens, viewpoints and walks: Ischia is more modest than its sister Capri, yet equally fascinating and rich. The Greek roots echo everywhere on the island and still today characterize some of the popular traditions most dear to the inhabitants, who are always friendly and cordial. Cross the island, circumnavigate it and enjoy all that the earth and the sea have to offer while you let yourself be enveloped by the relaxed and joyful atmosphere of the black pearl of the Gulf of Naples.
The green ray: the lucky ones will be able to come across the rare and evocative phenomenon of the green ray. At sunset or at sunrise, for one or two seconds, in particular atmospheric conditions, the light is broken down into its constituent elements. In fact, near the horizon, the rays must cross a thicker layer of atmosphere, which causes greater refraction. However, the components of the green and blue light (shorter wavelengths) are refracted (bent) and deviated more, less the red and yellow ones (higher wavelengths). Thus there is a phase shift of the colored components of the sunlight, which will no longer appear as a single disk, but as a series of discs slightly out of phase with each other. First the red disappears, then the yellow, and finally the green. Other phenomena of optical interference prevent us from seeing the last component: the blue ray. Among the best observation points there is the terrace of the Soccorso in Forio.
Do not miss: Feast at the sea at the rocks of S.Anna - Exhibition Ipomea del Negombo market - Ischia by night at "the right bank" of the port
To try: food & wine tasting - the spa - Easter red eggs
Procida
Colorful, lively, true: Procida is the little one of the islands in the Gulf of Naples, and remains perhaps the wildest. A fishing village, it has been appreciated by writers and artists from all over the world for its quiet and wonderful views. Procida welcomes you with its characteristic black beaches, then fascinate you with Casale Vascello, Marina di Corricella, Terra Murata and the natural reserve of the island of Vivara. It has centuries of history to tell, from the Mycenaeans to nowadays: in architecture, in religious traditions - such as Easter processions -, and folklore, such as the competition to elect Graziella.
Do not miss: Vivara natural reserve - beach of the old well (or the Postino) - Church of San Leonardo
To try: the catch of the day - aperitif in front of the sea
